Atlas on the Hill: Supporting 25 Years of the Balmoral Burn

Creatives

This May, the Lower North Shore community will return to Awaba Street for the 25th Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn — a local event with a lasting impact for children, families and hospitals across Australia.

Running for good

Twenty-five years on, one of the Lower North Shore's most loved community events returns to Awaba Street — and Atlas is proud to be part of it.

On Sunday 24 May, Awaba Street in Mosman will once again become more than a road.

For one morning, the steep 420-metre climb from Balmoral will be filled with school children, families, corporate teams, elite runners, local residents and supporters — all taking on the hill for a cause that has helped families across Australia for 25 years.

In 2026, the Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn marks its 25th anniversary, with Atlas returning as the Tier 1 Naming Rights Sponsor of the Open Male Race.

For Atlas, it's a local event in every sense — held on home ground, supported by the community, and connected to a cause that reaches far beyond the hill.

United by the burn

A local event with a lasting impact

The Balmoral Burn was created by Wallaby great Phil Kearns AM as a thank-you to Royal North Shore Hospital after the care provided to his son. What began as a simple idea — running up one of Sydney's steepest streets to raise funds — has become one of the Lower North Shore's most recognised community events.

Each year, the Burn raises funds for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, helping provide vital medical equipment to paediatric wards, neonatal units, maternity departments, emergency departments and health services across Australia.

That impact is what makes the day so powerful. Every race, team and donation helps support children and families when care matters most.

Why Atlas is proud to be involved

The Balmoral Burn is a Lower North Shore event in every sense.

It takes place in the heart of the region, bringing together local schools, families, businesses, residents and volunteers who return year after year to support the cause.

Atlas' support of the Open Male Race is part of a broader commitment to backing local initiatives that make a real difference — not only on the day, but for the hospitals, health services and families supported through the Foundation's work.

"As parents, neighbours and locals, this cause means a great deal to us. The Balmoral Burn brings our community together for something that really matters — helping children and families access the care and medical support they need when it matters most. We're honoured to be part of it."

How to get involved

The Balmoral Burn is open to runners and supporters of all kinds — from serious competitors to first-timers, school groups, families and corporate teams.

You can take part by joining a race, supporting from the sidelines or donating to the Atlas team fundraising page.

Every contribution helps the Humpty Dumpty Foundation provide essential medical equipment to hospitals and health services that need it.

The 2026 Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn takes place on Sunday 24 May at Awaba Street, Mosman.
